Auston Matthews Looking To Score A Hat Trick Off The Ice

Auston Matthews has been a star-level player in the NHL since coming into the league in 2016. He has had a 100-point season, scored 60 goals, and won the Hart Trophy as the league's MVP. He is now looking to do something that could set him apart from the rest of the league.

Matthews Wants To Be On The Cover Again

With the release of NHL 24 coming up soon EA Sports has been putting out a lot of content to promote the game. The cover athlete for the game releases on Monday. During a video where several NHL players were asked who should be on the cover of NHL 24 Auston Matthews said he would love to do it again.

When asked who he would want to see on the cover he had this to say:

I'll do it again I'll go for the hat trick if they want me.

Matthews graced the covers of both NHL 20 and NHL 22 and would be looking to finish the hat trick with his next cover.

The NHL 20 cover featured Matthews with a purple background and a smile. This cover was on brand with EA's basic covers of the late 2010s and into the 2020s. Another similar cover to this one was when P.K. Subban was on the cover of NHL 19.

While the NHL 22 cover showed Matthews walking down the tunnel of Scotiabank Arena.

While both of these covers are nice there is an opportunity for him to have an action shot in his next potential game cover.

While we are unlikely to see Matthews on the cover of NHL 24 since he has recently been on two versions of the game it is possible. Matthews could become the San Francisco Giants of NHL covers. Matthews would have his third cover from 2020-2024 whereas the Giants were World Series winners every other year from 2010-2014. Matthews would also be the first player to be on the cover of EA's NHL game 3 or more times.
