The Toronto Maple Leafs have finalized their NHL roster and it has the surprising inclusion of the 2023 1st round draft pick Easton Cowan.
The #LeafsForever opening roster is $11.404M over cap with 21 active players (13F/6D/2G)
LTIR: Muzzin, Murray, Timmins
This roster is $8,551 from optimized LTIR capture w/ those on LTIR.
Includes Cowan ($936K). Wednesday can demote him & replace

While it is unlikely that Cowan will start out the year in Toronto, there is always a chance he will not be demoted and stay in the NHL as a rookie.
With Cowan not being cut, it is a testament to Toronto's scouting staff as many rankings had Cowan outside of the first round and some even in the third round.
The Leafs will also give 2022 second-rounder Fraser Mintin a stint in the NHL as well this upcoming season. It seems like their scouting staff is near the top of the league picking up on premier talent year in and year out.
