Tomá Plekanec retired

After health problems he is not able to finish this season, so he decided to end his playing career in his native Kladno.

Plekanec played in 1001 career NHL games, 17 of which came with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2017-18 while the rest came with the rival Montreal Canadiens.

He only had 2 assists through 17 regular season games with the Leafs but kicked things up in the playoffs scoring 2 goals and 4 points during a 7 game series loss.

Since leaving the NHL in 2018-19, Plekanec has been playing for his native HC Kladno alongside Jaromir Jagr being their leading scorer for most of his tenure. He has been their captain for the past three seasons.

We wish him all the best in his post-playing endeavors and congratulate him on a fantastic NHL career.
