The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that defenseman Jordie Benn will be placed on waivers.

While it is relatively unlikely Benn gets claimed as he is essentially just a depth guy, a team looking for a small boost of offense or an extra warm body could be in the picture.
This will clear cap space for the Leafs, who are still looking to make another move. Per CapFriendly, they will have approximately $2.078-million in space after this transaction.
This could be a sign of big moves to come in Toronto.
