Sheldon Keefe Makes Surprising Changes In Leafs Line Up
The Toronto Maple Leafs are in the midst of major changes in the roster and the team doesn't look to be done yet. Sheldon Keefe seems to be tweaking the team all the while.
As of today, the report from practice noted some changes that could continue the Leafs' offensive threat down the stretch.
Sheldon Keefe makes surprising changes in Leafs line up
Keefe decided in practice to shift William Nylander, the team's highest-scoring winger right now back to the 2nd line. Once again, the status quo of Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews is back.
The last time a split in lines happened was in January when Keefe quickly reunited the trio of Matthews, Marner, and Bunting against the Boston Bruins in the 3rd period.
"We're confident whenever we get on the ice together that we got quick chemistry," said Marner. "We can do a lot of plays out there. We can make stuff happen ... It felt good. We were really moving the puck well, creating a lot of chances, and being smart with our puck placement as well. We had good looks through that third period."
This was Keefe's reasoning to quickly reunite them, and then split them apart, so will this lineup change have the same reasoning? William Nylander isn't exactly cold right now.
The Toronto Maple Leafs will take on the fierce Seattle Kraken who have seemed to gel well enough to be competitive in the West.
Let's hope Keefe's experiment doesn't fail.
