According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the negotiations have come to a halt. A "time-out" as he put it. "The process has stopped."
What does this Mean?
That's the main question. Unfortunately, Friedman didn't explain. Is this an agreed upon time-out in order to give both parties a break? Or, did one side demand it after the other took a position that wasn't appreciated? It would also be interesting to know whether a specific date has been set for the talks to resume or whether this is more of an indefinite thing.
Besides the obvious factor of money, it has been said that Dubas is seeking more power in the way of making decisions on his own. Whether that means reducing the role of team President Brendan Shanahan, or eliminating the position completely, it's hard to say.
