BREAKING: Maple Leafs Officially Send Down Talented Forward Prospect
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced an interesting roster move today.
The Leafs surprised the hockey world when they drafted Easton Cowan in the first round last year. It seems that they may have known something the rest of the league didn't though as Cowan was incredibly impressive in the preseason.
It is not so surprising that he is being sent back to junior hockey, but it is surprising that it is this late into the year. The Leafs first regular season game is tonight.
Cowan scored 53 points in 68 games last year with the London Knights of the OHL. In the playoffs, he really hit his stride, scoring 9 goals and 21 points in 20 games. He will look to play an even more prominent role with London this season.
If he continues his current development track, he could make the Leafs as early as next season.
