During today's episode of First Up, on TSN 1050, Darren Dreger mentionned new details about WIlliam Nylander's contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Dreger Shares Final Details of Nylander's Contract
A lot of people have their eyes set on the Maple Leafs' social medias today, as Elliotte Friedman mentionned that the organization could announce a deal with William Nylander today.
Darren Dreger confirmed that the signature is imminent:
"Look, it's imminent, right? Whether it's today or tomorrow, that will be determined by Brad Treliving and Lewis Gross as they tidy up the final details... the heavy lifting is complete and I maintain that the AAV is going to be north of $11M and I'd be surprised if it's not $11.5M"
With the rumors stating Nylander would sign at $11.5M, Dreger didn't want to share a precise number, and said the Leafs would go north of $11M.
He also added perspective to that deal, noting that they would get Nylander's best years with that contract.
"Toronto is literally getting William Nylander in his prime. They're paying for it - at $11.5M, it's not cheap by any stretch of the imagination. But they're getting his best years in this deal." - Dreger on Nylander
A few minutes ago, he added:
"See how the rest of the morning evolves, but as speculated the Maple Leafs are closing in on what is believed to be an 8 year, $92 million extension for William Nylander. Still a bit of work getting done."
Then, Chris Johnston also shed light on new details:
"This will be the largest contract in #leafs history by total value. Expect it to include a full no-movement clause and favourable bonus structuring."
We can't wait to see the official confirmation. Stay tuned as developments are expected today or tommorow.
