The Leafs have been plagued by both an injury and illness bug this season, and it has taken some serious toll on their blueline. Notably, John Klingberg is done for the season, being placed on LTIR as he will undergo hip surgery. With Mark Giordano out on LTIR as well, it's clear the Leafs need to find a defenseman to trade for.
Brad Treliving has his work cut out for him, however, these 5 defensemen should be his target list.
Its clear that the Calgary Flames are sellers this year, already trading away Nikita Zadorov, so they will be open to discussing both Hanifin and Tanev with Treliving. The Ducks are in all likelihood going to part ways with UFAs at the deadline, so there could be a chance Lyubushkin could return to Toronto.
Toronto has gone through every option at their blueline, calling up the likes of Conor Timmins, Simon Benoit, William Lagesson and Max Lajoie to fill the gaps in the blueline.
While the depth d-men have done a decent job keeping the Leafs competitive, it is clear they need reinforcements if they want to make a run this year.
