Full schedule of Leafs-Panthers series is released and it's ridiculous
The National Hockey League has released the full schedule for the Toronto Maple Leafs - Florida Panthers 2nd round Stanley Cup Playoff series, and it's drawing a ton of criticism. It should, too. A complete seven-game series, if needed, includes a three-day gap between games two and three, three and four, and five and six. Worst of all, no games in the series will take place on a Saturday.
The Toronto Maple Leafs being in the second round for the first time in 19 years and not playing a game on Saturday seems to counter almost everything hockey is about in Canada. There's word that the NHL had to work around the playoff schedule of the NBA's Miami Heat. That feels like hockey is taking a back seat to basketball, something no fan wants to see happen.
For hockey fans in Canada looking to check out Canadian teams on a Saturday night, the Edmonton Oilers are in Vegas to take on the Golden Knights in game 2 on May 6th.
