Maple Leafs Have the Perfect Solution for the Ilya Samsonov Problem, but Leafs Fans Won't Like It
Ilya Samsonov is struggling this year, without question, however, the potential solution may be a familiar face for the Leafs.
Leafs Could Trade for Mrazek To Solve Goaltender Issue
Much of the attention regarding the Leafs' trade situation was on their attempts to add a defenseman. However, with Ilya Samsonov struggling, the Leafs may have to rethink their deadline strategy to focus on adding another goaltender.
One goalie who has surfaced as a potential option is Petr Mrazek, who is having a comeback year in Chicago. Mrazek was traded from the Leafs in July of 2022 along with a first-rounder to clear cap space.
Leafs May Have to Ditch Adding Defenseman At Deadline
With the Leafs tight on cap space, they may have to shift their priorities at the deadline. They have been able to scrape by with the injuries to the blueline, however, if the goaltending issue persists, they will have difficulties making a push into the post-season.
That is, unless Woll and Jones can hold the fort down. Would you count on Woll and Jones as the goaltending duo for the Leafs?
