Despite great acquisitions this summer and a change in management, the Toronto Maple Leafs are struggling.
According to many, Sheldon Keefe will be the next one who'll need to go if the team doesn't start to win soon.
We've often seen it. Under Keefe, players have trouble setting the tone of a game. Players look disinterested or unengaged on the bench. It's the coach's job, at some point, to light his players up.
Could a coaching change help the team?
Some believe Brad Treliving wouldn't need to look very far for the right candidate.
One of Treliving's great moves this summer was the hiring of Guy Boucher as an assistant coach.
He has a lot of experience and knows how to get the best out of his players, something Keefe is obviously struggling with.
Boucher previously coached the Lightning between 2010 and 2013 and the Senators from 2016 to 2019. He also worked in the QMJHL, AHL, and in Europe.
He went to the playoffs only two times but reached the conference finals on both occasions.
As you know, Keefe only won one series.
Keefe's style is more defensive, while Boucher's is a little more hard-nosed. This could be what the Maple Leafs' players need.
