The Hurricanes and Pesce have not had a ton of extension talk as both sides are trying to figure themselves out.

The Leafs were in on the 28-year-old defenseman however they are no longer looking to pay the price that it would cost to get Pesce.

The New York native is known to be a good shut down defenseman however this past season Pesce had his best season collecting 30 points and an impressive plus-43 rating in 82 games for the Hurricanes.

Two Teams Still in on Pesce

There are reports that the two teams still heavily interested in acquiring the defenseman are the Calgary Flames and the Seattle Kraken.

Pesce does have a modified trade clause that includes a 15-team trade list which he is willing to move to.

It is unknown which teams are on that list but Pesce would help both teams drastically be better teams.
