Maple Leafs Nylander heads to Sweden after his team got eliminated
Despite a crushing loss for him and his teammates, William Nylander decided to go back home to Sweden after getting eliminated by the Florida Panthers in 5 games.
As soon as the Leafs were eliminated from the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Florida Panthers, Nylander hopped on a plane and headed home to Sweden.
According to reports, Nylander intends to join his brother Alex on Team Sweden at the World Hockey Championships taking place in Tampere, Finland, and Riga, Latvia. The tournament officially got underway yesterday.
Nylander has a lengthy history of representing his country at international tournaments. He played in the U17 and U18 Championships, suited up three times for Sweden at the World Juniors, and has played in the World Championships on two previous occasions. Sweden and Nylander won gold at the WC in 2017.
