Predicting Max Domi's Long-Term Deal With The Maple Leafs
Max Domi grew up cheering for his dad as a Maple Leaf and he may continue the tradition of becoming a long-time Leaf if next year goes well.
Domi's History With The Leafs
Max Domi has a lengthy history with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Growing up, he watched his dad, Tie, play with the Leafs.
Throughout his father's career, Max was alive for 10 years of his dad playing in Toronto.
He has said how he loves the city and even took a shorter-term deal with less money to get the opportunity to play for his father's Alma Mater.
Predicting Domi's Next Contract
With Domi's love for the Leafs known, he would probably be willing to sign a long-term deal in Toronto for the correct price.
He is coming off of a 56-point year split between Dallas and Chicago and if he can replicate that or even build off it, he could be in for a big payday.
At 28, Domi is in the prime of his career and Brad Treliving may be interested in keeping him in Toronto for the rest of his prime. Assuming he gels well in Toronto his next contracts could look like this
Potential contracts:
3 years, $4.5m AAV
4 years, $5m AAV
6 years, $5.25m AAV
While these contracts get more expensive as the term gets longer, it would ensure that Domi stays in Toronto. However, it should be noted that if Domi exceeds expectations with a point per game season, his extensions could be a million or two more expensive than these predictions.
