The Toronto Maple Leafs have been hot to start the 2023-24 season, picking up two massive wins before surprisingly falling to the Chicago Blackhawks in a game that had plenty of intriguing storylines.

Two veteran names

While a lot of the attention in this one was directed towards Connor Bedard, Corey Perry seemingly stole all of the attention of the Leafs during their matchup, and that didn't escape veteran Ryan Reaves.

Following their matchup, Reaves had this to say about the controversial Perry.

I never really liked him, to be honest. We always seem to run into each other and we play against each other, but not a lot of love for that guy Just the way he runs his mouth, I don't know. He kind of acts tough. He's not tough.

It seems there's no love lost between the two veteran names, and the next time these two teams meet, it appears that Reaves and Perry could meet on the ice, and as we have seen before, that will mean plenty of physicality.

A heavy collision incoming?

In 2023-24, Reaves hasn't found much success with the Leafs yet through three games, as their offence has been humming and required little in the way of physicality from him, but given how things get in the playoffs, he'll be a key for them down the stretch.

Whether you like Reaves or not, it's clear he wears his heart on his sleeve, and the Maple Leafs fans should be won over by that over the course of his contract, but if he can't begin to win physical battles against the likes of Perry, things could turn very quickly.
