Sheldon Keefe Urges The League to Suspend Sam Bennett
Toronto's loss tonight to Florida proved in many ways that this Leafs team is still flawed, and has plenty of issues to work out. One of their biggest struggles this season has been keeping up with the physical side of the game, whereas their players like to play more to their individual skills. Sheldon Keefe offered some interesting remarks regarding one of Sam Bennett's more physical plays this evening, and it's clear the head coach isn't happy.
Keefe Calls for Bennett's Suspension
Following tonight's loss, Keefe used his post-game press conference to draw attention towards Panthers forward Sam Bennett's crosscheck on Michael Bunting, rather than address the reasons his team actually lost. Keefe compared the crosscheck to one that got Leafs star Auston Matthews suspended last season, hinting that Bennett deserves the same treatment from the league that Matthews did.
Once again, everything circles back to the notion that the NHL and its officials have it out for Toronto, and fans on social media let Keefe know what they thought of his complaining.
Hopefully for Keefe's sake, the Leafs start to clean up their act and win some games.
