The Maple Leafs present is expected to be very bright, as their core four are close to leading them to playoff glory, but beyond that, they've got some very talented young prospects.

A second round pick

While many focus on Matthew Knies and Nick Robertson, Fraser Minten, the team's second-round pick from the 2022 NHL Draft has emerged as a potential future star in this lineup.

His pre-season thus far has been fantastic with several big highlights, and now, he reportedly has a chance to make this roster, if not now, then in the very near future.

An impressive performance

The Maple Leafs Coach has now taken notice of this as well, as his recent comments on Minten's performance will have Leafs fans very, very excited about the future.

Our situation, as you know is complex. There is a lot that goes into it. If there are no roster limitations or salary cap, I think there is no question that he would remain here and we would give him an opportunity to get some regular-season time and grow through that.

But it is not that easy of a decision. It is complex. There is a lot at play some I understand, and some that I don't. Brad [Treliving], Brandon [Pridham], and the management team will sort through all of those things. - Sheldon Keefe on Minten's chance to make the roster.

Ultimately, it doesn't appear as though Minten will start 2023-24 with the NHL club, but if continues to impress, it's just a matter of time until the 19-year old is finding himself playing significant minutes.

As Read on Maple Leafs Hot Stove - Sheldon Keefe Post Game, Red Wings 4 vs. Leafs 3: «If there are no roster limits or salary cap, there is no question that [Minen] would remain here, but it's complex»
