With the Leafs' Camp quickly coming to its end next week, speculation is growing as to when cuts will be made from the roster.

Keefe Rests Key Players in Order to Evaluate Guys Fighting for Spot

The Leafs rested many of their guys during the back-to-back games they had this weekend, effectively giving them the weekend off as they do not have training scheduled for Sunday. Sheldon Keefe gave his reasoning for doing so in an interview.

Sheldon Keefe on giving most of the Leafs top guys the weekend off:

"Next week we'll have less opportunity for players & so these back-to-backs here are for guys really competing for spots."

Leafs have three games next week with no back-to-backs (Monday, Thursday, Saturday)

Keefe basically confirms that this past week was for players who are vying for a roster spot, and next week will likely be focused on seeing who fits in with the core group as cuts are made.

Leafs Expected to Release Players Monday after Off Day Sunday

The Leafs have yet to put players on waivers, and many expected them to make a wave of releases before or after their game on Saturday night. However, it appears they were waiting to get the full picture, as they have not made any announcements regarding cuts. With the off day today, it's likely we will see cuts come at the beginning of the week.

No waiver activity today from the Maple Leafs. Looks like we'll wait for cuts tomorrow with the team having an off day on Sunday

Who makes the roster will be of hot debate for the Leafs executive and fans alike, as they have an incredible number of depth players vying for spots this year.
