Three Crucial Questions the Maple Leafs Must Face Ahead of Next Season
The Toronto Maple Leafs have had plenty of expectations on their shoulders for years, and it's only growing in 2023-24, so to have success, they've got some big questions to answer.
Can this team go all the way?
Recently, the folks at LeafsNation put together three questions that Toronto would have to answer ahead of next season, with so much pressure on all of their shoulders.
Firstly, with all of the chatter around William Nylander and Auston Matthews potential extensions, and whether or not this would become a distraction to the team given how crucial both men are to the organization.
So much talent, so little success
Next, the sustainability of captain John Tavares, as many fans have called into question his ability to play 2C going forward, and with so little depth down the middle beyond he and Matthews, this is something they may need to address during the season.
New guys need to step up
Lastly, and perhaps the biggest key to whether or not this team can take the leap in 2023-24, is the production of their new guys, with Ryan Reaves, John Klingberg and Max Domi all expected to be key for them, with their production perhaps being the key to whether or not the Leafs can go all the way.
