The Toronto Maple Leafs are stacked full of talent at the NHL level, and fortunately for their fans, the future looks bright too, as they have several top prospects that appear to be game changers for the future.
A talented young star
While the likes of Matthew Knies and Nick Robertson are expected to break the league this season, the future is promising too, with Easton Cowan expected to be one of the teams core pieces in the coming years.
Last year with the OHL's London Knights, former team of Leafs star Mitch Marner, Cowan netted 20 goals and 53 points in just 68 games of action, and now, he's showing off at the NHL level.
An electric start to the pre-season
In his first opportunity at the NHL level this pre-season, Cowan is already showing off what he can do, as he netted a beautiful tic-tac-toe goal in his debut.
While it's still early and teams adjust well at the NHL level, this is a promising start for an 18-year old who's just looking to get his feet wet, as he won't be cracking the roster anytime soon.
Regardless, if the 2023 first-round pick can continue to produce like this, he'll have Maple Leafs fans dying to get him into the lineup as he grows and matures, but for now, the experience he's getting is invaluable, especially if he can net some more big goals this pre-season before he heads to the AHL or back to the OHL.
