Toronto Maple Leafs To Lose A Defenseman To Suspension? A True Possibility After He Injured A Star Long Term
Last night Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman William Lagesson took down Blue Jackets star Patrik Laine and could now be facing a suspension from the NHL DoPS.
Lagesson Injures Laine With Slew Foot
Following the Columbus Blue Jackets' victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs last night, they had awful news confirmed as Finnish star Patrik Laine was confirmed to miss a lot of time with injury.
Today it was announced he would miss six weeks with a clavical fracture.
INJURY UPDATE: #CBJ forward Patrik Laine is expected to be sidelined six weeks with a clavicle fracture suffered in last night's game at Toronto.
The play that left Laine injured was Leafs defenseman William Lagesson tripping him dangerously.
Patrik Laine out 6 weeks after this play. I would say he's injury prone but this was a pretty slew-footy trip by William Lagesson that should've been looked at by @NHLPlayerSafety.
Fans Calling For Lagesson To Be Suspended
Fans were quick to call for the NHL DoPS to look at the play and potentially suspend Lagesson for it.
It is unknown what the DoPS will do but we will know if Lagesson gets suspended for fined for the play by 5 pm EST today.
