Looking at Josh Anderson, he is truly a part of a dying breed. As a true power forward, he is able to score goals with his precise shot but he is also able to bulldoze his opponents that get in his way.
Coming off of a 21-goal year, Anderson has proved to be an effective goal scorer. With this, his hometown team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, may be quite interested in his services as they continue to load up for the postseason-style game.
This trade sees Montreal get top young assets in Liljegren and a 2024 1st in exchange for their power forward.
Brad Treliving has made it known that he wants Anderson-style players as he went out and acquired Max Domi, Tyler Bertuzzi, and Ryan Reaves who can all play a physical game.
Liljegren has yet to get his fair shot in Toronto and likely never will so moving him out for Anderson who can be a top-line or fourth-line player for the Leafs allows them to get a fair return. The pick would also be in the late 20s or hopefully, early 30s which means that while it is a first-round pick, it is not nearly as valuable as other teams' first-round picks.
While it is a steep price for Anderson, if the Leafs can win a cup, it will all be worth it.
