The Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins will do battle for the first time in 2023-24 on Thursday night, and with such a historic rivalry, there's bound to be plenty of feeling in each and every matchup.
Major Shots Fired
In 2022-23, Tyler Bertuzzi and Brad Marchand were teammates, but after leaving to join the Leafs as a free agent, Bertuzzi is clearly. all in on this Toronto team, firing a massive shot in his direction.
I know he's full of sh*t out there. - Bertuzzi on Marchand
Marchand is often regarded as one of the best players in the league at getting under their opponents skin, but it appears as though his former teammate sees through the act.
Former teammates collide
Both of these teams are off to great starts this year, with Boston going 8-0-1 to this point while Toronto sit at 5-3-1, and with a potential playoff matchup between the two later in the season, comments like this will fire up the rivalry.
It's clear though that while Bertuzzi may believe what he said about Marchand, the Bruins new captain is off to a great start in 2023 as he sits at a point per game through their first nine, so this is a battle within the battle to keep an eye on during their Thursday matchup.
