We Now Know Why Joseph Woll Is Getting The Start Over Ilya Samsonov
The Toronto Maple Leafs were expected to go into this season with Ilya Samsonov as the main starter and Joseph Woll as the backup. Early on things seem to have changed and we now know why.
Keefe Confirms A Change Is Being Made
After two consecutive games where Ilya Samsonov has been pulled due to poor performance the Maple Leafs are making a switch. Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe has announced that Joseph Woll will be getting the net for Toronto's next contest.
I think he (Samsonov) would agree that Joseph Woll did an excellent job for us on that trip and we want to get him back in, Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe said of his decision.
Woll has been on an absolute roll coming in to relieve Samsonov in the last two games.

Since Keefe made this announcement Ilya Samsonov was able to give his reaction to his recent play and Woll coming in.
Samsonov Speaks On His Recent Struggles
Ilya Samsonov took the time to address the media following his back-to-back rough outings. He says since the last game he has had time to mentally reset himself.
I'm feeling more my game. I think everything is getting better. We have some small details of what we'll work with. For me, it's more important everything is good. A good mental spot.
Samsonov then went on to discuss his relationship with Joseph Woll. He mentions that he loves the healthy competition between the two of them.
It's good for the team and perfect for us, Samsonov said of Woll's performance. It's a good competition We're very friendly and so nice for both of us.
Samsonov seems to be ready to rebound after a couple of tough games. For now, though the net belongs to Joseph Woll, and with another strong outing he could keep taking ownership of the starting job.
