William Nylander's Future With Toronto Maple Leafs Nearing A Definitive Decision

Today a new report has come out that has confirmed a final decision regarding William Nylander's future coming soon.
Maple Leafs And Nylander On The Same Page
There have not been a lot of reports in recent weeks about the discussions between William Nylander and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Sources have confirmed this is by design and both sides wish to keep things private.
One thing that has been confirmed by Chris Johnston though is that both sides are on the same page and agree on the numbers part of the contract.
Well, they're certainly working away at it and I think that's maybe why there is no worry," Johnston stated during an appearance on TSN's 'Insider Trading'. "Because at this point in time, it does seem that the Leafs and William Nylander's camp are on the same page on a number of fronts. For one, neither of them want to talk about this publicly, obviously they're keeping a lid on negotiations as much as they can.
While both sides are still negotiating this gives fans hope that as long as Nylander wants to be a Maple Leaf the two sides will be able to make it work. Johnston was also able to give an update on this part of the negotiations as well.
NHL Insider Confirms Nylander's Wishes In Negotiations
Chris Johnston further commented on William Nylander and the Maple Leafs. He spoke about the fact that he believes Nylander is still committed to the Maple Leafs and wants his future to be in Toronto.
But secondly, I think one thing that remains unchanged is what Nylander absolutely wants to be a Maple Leaf long-term. It's still his goal and his camp's goal to get a deal done. The Leafs want to sign a player who has had a tremendous season for them so far this year. And so the fact that the talks remain, that there does seem to be some optimism there, I think it's a positive sign as we look toward a new year when they'll try to get a deal done
All of this information leads fans and media to believe a deal will get done before William Nylander reaches free agency. The Maple Leafs are within range with the numbers and Nylander wants to stay in Toronto meaning he might be willing to take a discount.
