Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand is making waves with his aggressive play against the referee, and not in a good way.

In Game 5, Marchand crossed the line. After a trip from Pontus Holmberg, he got tangled up in a scrum and verbally spat with the referees. Things escalated quickly, and Marchand found himself on the receiving end of a referee body slam.

In Game 6, Marchand's antics made headlines again. This time, he got physical with the refs, shoving one during the first period.

In the NHL's rules on automatic suspensions, Brad Marchand faces a mandatory 10-game ban for his conduct towards the referee:

40.3 - Automatic Suspension - Category II - Any player who deliberately applies physical force to an official in any manner, which physical force is applied without intent to injure, or who spits on an official, shall be automatically suspended for not less than ten (10) games.

Despite that aggression, the Bruins are struggling. In Game 6, they were outshot 12-1, in the opening frame, yet things stayed scoreless. Could Marchand's antics be a desperate attempt to fire up his team? Or is he just letting his emotions get the best of him?
