Brad Treliving reveals his real intentions for William Nylander
Talks about Nylander's contract continue to spark debates in the hockey world. Brad Treliving recently made an interesting declaration on the situation.
Treliving Talks About Nylander's Extension
In a recent interview, the Leafs' GM made a interesting statement about William Nylander.
Here's what he said:
«I'm not going to get into the play-by-play of it other than to say he's a very good player and you always want to keep the good players,» Treliving said. «And he's told me he wants to be in Toronto. That's the most important thing. If there's a desire on both sides, then you should be able to come to an agreement."
It's important to note that negotiations haven't hit a wall yet. Both parties don't mind negotiating during the season to make a deal happen.
It starts with the understanding that we think Willy is a top player and we want him and he's telling me he wants to be there, so hopefully we can find a way to get it done.
Willy is a really important player and a really good player, and we want to get him done, too.
That's next on the list.
Treliving said.
Looking at the Leafs' Top Six
Treliving came into office and didn't lose time to address the main concern in Toronto: the grit.
By getting Tyler Bertuzzi, Max Domi and Ryan Reaves, the team got much tougher. With the offensive talent in Toronto, it'll be a deadly combination.
The Leafs' top six might look like this:
Knies - Matthews - Marner
Bertuzzi - Tavares - Nylander
Don't be surprised if Domi, Bertuzzi and Knies take rotations on the first line.
The depth this year is extremely promising, as it could be the deadliest lineup that Toronto saw in a whlie.
