Since the last draft, Leafs fans got their eyes set on Easton Cowan as he pursues his junior career in the OHL.

However, a new report suggests that an even more interesting player appeared in the Leafs' prospect pool at the trade deadline.

Maple Leafs Hit Home Run at the Trade Deadline in Cade Webber

While Treliving secured two reliable defensemen with Joel Edmundson and Ilya Lyubushkin, they've acquired another interesting player that went under the radar: Cade Webber.

Cade Webber is a 23 year-old defenseman, standing at 6'7 and weighing 201 pounds. Drafted in the fourth round by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2019, he played in the NCAA, with Boston University, for the past four years. This season, he tallied six points, all assists, in 30 games.

Webber is known for his great defensive skills, as we can guess from his point production. He's a beast at blocking shots and has a great hockey IQ.

"I've watched Cade Webber play about 100 games at BU. He's a 6'7» physical , shot blocking machine who skates well and can make a first pass. This is a well developed prospect and is 100% worth a 6th round pick by the #LeafsForever "

Earlier today, Webber earned the award of the Best Defensive Defenseman in Hockey East.

"Never a doubt who was getting this award.

Congrats to Cade Webber on being selected as the Best Defensive Defenseman in Hockey East!"

If he can bring his game to the NHL level, there's no doubt that he'll be a fan-favourite in Toronto.
