There's been plenty of mystery and intrigue surrounding William Nylander and his injury that kept him out of game one, and now further details have emerged.
William Nylander missed game one against the Boston Bruins, a brutal 5-1 mauling of the Maple Leafs, and now ahead of game two, the intrigue continues. While Nylander was skating on Monday morning, there's no confirmation yet on his status ahead of game two, but now a Maple Leafs Insider has given details on the injury situation.
🚨BREAKING: Okay Folks, here's what I'm hearing per #sources regarding #88 Willy Styles Nylander. It is believed to be an upper body ailment that he's dealing with as a result of a hit taken in game 82. Not going to get into specifics or pretend to guess the full extent of the injury but obviously it kept him out of game #1 and very well could be the same for game #2. Good news is, his chin was skating at the morning twirl in a regular sweater at The TD Bank Garden. #LeafsForever fans we'll see if he suits up tonight but as TO media reported earlier .. he was taking part of the scratches skate. Which leads me to think he isn't going tonight. Again, let's see how the afternoon progresses for the high flying Swede.

According to Schmaltz, it was a hit that Nylander took in the regular season finale that has held him back, and while he can't confirm the official diagnosis, it's a legitimate injury that kept him out of game one.
Nylander skated on Monday, but was skating with the healthy scratches at points, so with the Maple Leafs staring down a potential 0-2 hole, the decision to be made on Nylander here is a huge one.
