Some Toronto Maple Leafs fans are furious after disturbing informations on new head coach Craig Berube got released on social media.

The Leafs management stopped to look for a new coach and decided to hire Craig Berube. They confirmed their decision last week, and only a few days later, Berube is already under scrutiny.

Back when he was still playing in the NHL, Berube was a tough guy who liked to disturb his opponents by any means possible. Unfortunately, he took things too far in a game in 1997.

Berube was suspended one game for using racial slur against an opponent.

Here's what the Los Angeles Times wrote when the incident occured:

"Craig Berube of the Washington Capitals was suspended for one game without pay on Tuesday for calling Florida's Peter Worrell, who is black, a «monkey» during an on-ice scuffle on Sunday."

While such a thing is unacceptable today, he apologized and served his time. In no way does it affect his capabilities to coach the Toronto Maple Leafs and lead them to a Stanley Cup.

However, if it happens again, there's no doubt that major consequences will come his way, just like what we're seeing with the Edmonton Oilers' assistant coach and NHL legend Paul Coffey, who is currently under investigation for a racist gesture he did during a recent game:

"The Oilers were leading & Paul Coffey turned to make racist hand gestures toward a fan's turban, mocking his head. The Canucks game back and won in regulation. Karma is real. Hope Paul is held responsible for his actions."

Do you think the Toronto Maple Leafs made a mistake by hiring Craig Berube as their head coach?
