With the 4 Nations only a few days from kicking off, Team Canada looks set for dominance with a roster including Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby, and Mitch Marner; who earned himself the opportunity to skate alongside the best in the world as he lined up alongside Connor McDavid and Sam Reinhart.
He also had some solid line mates as he lined up for the second PP unit as well.
It's a tournament expected to be one that is a bit feistier than All-Star weekend and with national pride on the line, expect things to be heated -- especially between Canada and USA.
So with that being said -- how can Mitch Marner help Canada secure gold?
It seems like contract talks haven't bothered Marner this season. The Maple Leafs forward has 16 goals and 55 assists in 54 games and has been undoubdetbly the team's MVP.
His playmaking ability and improved defense has made not only Toronto more successful, but should bring a lot of excitement to Canada's games.
Lining up alongside McDavid and Reinhart is a star-studded lineup that has an insane amount of playmaking with McDavid and Marner (104 assists combined) and Reinhart who has 31 goals can easily benefit.
His ability on the man advantage will also be a key factor as both Brayden Point and Josh Morrissey are scoring threats and Marner can easily feed them passes.
It's also a great test for Marner's ability to perform under pressure, as the forward has been criticized for his lack of production in the postseason. A strong showing here would help give him confidence he can do it now and later.
Canada is no doubt going to have a strong showing at the 4 Nations and a lot of that has to do with Marner. However if he doesn't perform well, let's hope it doesn't mean he falls apart when Toronto comes back.
But what do YOU think? Will Mitch Marner be Canada's secret weapon? Or will he fail to produce? Let us know!
