In six games to get them prepared for one of the most important seasons in franchise history, the Maple Leafs will play home and away sets against three rivals; the Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings. With so many important positional battles to be sorted, with the potential emergence of young stars like Fraser Minten, Pontus Holmberg and Easton Cowan among others, these games will be critical.
Last year, the Maple Leafs played eight pre-season games, meaning this year will give them a smaller look at some new combinations, new faces and potential new stars, which could hinder the decision making process for new Head Coach Craig Berube.
Toronto's first regular season game will come on October 9 against the fierce rival Montreal Canadiens, and with so many moves this summer, they'll look to start hot, so while some teams may opt to not play their biggest names in anticipation of the season, expect Toronto to be aggressive right from the outset as they chase their first Stanley Cup since 1967.
