With all the rumors going around that Craig Berube will become the next head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, there's a lot of speculation about the rest of the coaching staff.
Guy Boucher, Dean Chynoweth and Mike Van Ryn, who were Sheldon Keefe's assistants, could be on their way out of Toronto as well.
According to a new development, Craig Berube could decide to bring a former NHLer with him to Toronto: Marc Savard.
Savard played 807 NHL games between 1997 and 2011 for the New York Rangers, Calgary Flames, Atlanta Thrashers and Boston Bruins.
Recently, he was working with the Flames as assistant-coach and was working on the powerplay. This season, Calgary finished 26th in the NHL in the special units:
On the other hand, the Leafs ended the season at the 7th position in the powerplays, and it was led by Guy Boucher.
Berube will bring in guys he believes can help him achieve his goals. He'll have big decisions to make, but there's no doubt that brining Savard could be beneficial, even if Boucher had better numbers than him. In Calgary, they didn't have Auston Matthews or William Nylander to score on the PP, which is something to consider.
