Former Toronto Maple Leafs player Luke Schenn has a reputation for getting information before anyone else, and appears to have a future career as an insider.

Nashville Predators forward Ryan O'Reilly, his current teammate, said that Schenn broke the news to him about Steven Stamkos signing with the team even before any expert insiders on TV or social media had any reports of it.

"I got a text from him (Schenn) just before it was announced that Stamkos was coming here" O'Reilly said in an interview with TSN. "I knew we were in the mix for him but I didn't want to get my hopes up and sure enough we get him and it's just amazing".

Back when Schenn played for the Leafs, he was known as the "human eraser" because of how ferocious his hits were along the boards. He had one of the best body checks in the league. O'Reilly says his new nickname is "Scoops", as he seems to always have the inside scoop on breaking news.

As we've seen happen many times before, a lot of NHL players turn to broadcasting when they hang up the skates, and it appears as though Schenn may have several positions lined up for him when he's ready to call it quits on the ice.

What Schenn has that gives him a heavy advantage over the rest of the competition is that he plays the game, knows the ins and outs, and has made strong, reliable connections over the years.
