Joe Bowen has been a staple in Maple Leafs fans homes for the better part of 40 years now, and after announcing that he would return to do play by play for Toronto in 2024-2025, and recently took to X to share his feelings going into the season.
Bowen seems absolutely thrilled to have Berube behind the bench for Toronto, knowing the coach during his tenure as a player for the Maple Leafs, as well as the new mindset behind the Maple Leafs identity; it harkens back to the days of the late 90's-early 2000's where the Pat Quinn led Maple Leafs played hard-nosed hockey and enjoyed some of their most recent success during that span.
Bowen, now 73 years old; hopes it brings back some inklings of the past. He announced mid-summer that he and broadcast partner Jim Ralph would come back and seems excited as ever to call games:
If it's anything like his call for the Maple Leafs during Game 6 of this season's playoffs; Bowen is fired up and isn't afraid to let his love shine through, bias be damned:
It seems like Toronto is going to have that familiar echo in their ears when the Maple Leafs take the ice, and when that first goal hits and the arena erupts, there is only one true way to celebrate:
With a HOLY MACKINAW!
