Sheldon Keefe goes with Joseph Woll for Maple Leafs for Game 5
Live from the Toronto Maple Leafs' morning skate, we learned that Joseph Woll will be the starting goalie for game 5 against the Boston Bruins.
With the Leafs facing elimination tonight in Boston, it looks like coach Sheldon Keefe decided to mix things up for their possible last game of the season.
According to Mark Masters, Woll should get the start tonight:
"Joseph Woll is not on the ice for Leafs skate, which suggests he's starting tonight "
Samsonov has always been struggling to compete with consistency since he joined the Maple Leafs.
After management was forced to send him down to the AHL due to his poor performances earlier this season, he showed that he can bounce back.
Since the playoffs started, he's been performing unevenly, tallying a 3.31 GAA and a .883 SV%, which could be what forced Keefe to make the change. In game 4, Woll did a great job filling in for the Russian goalie. He blocked all the five shots that the Bruins fired at him.
Woll will need to bring his A-game as the Bruins will be hungry for victory. Last season, they blew a 3-1 lead against the Florida Panthers after winning the President's Trophy, something that probably still haunts them to this day.
