Kyle Dubas' future in Toronto is still uncertain, but developments about his status are expected sooner than later.
In the meantime, many players contracts are expiring and the GM will have to cleverly juggle with the salary cap in order to re-sign them.
During an intermission in last night's game between Dallas and Seattle, insiders talked about the situation in Toronto and what would happen with three UFAs
Elliotte Friedman, David Amber and Kevin Bieksa debated on the issue and talked about possible scenarios for Ryan O'Reilly, Noel Acciari and Luke Schenn.
Here's what Friedman said about the Leafs' wishes to bring them back next year:
The biggest priority will be Auston Matthews. Even with a year left on his contract, the Leafs will have to keep that in mind if they want to sign this year's UFAs.
But O'Reilly, Schenn and Acciari all had huge impact during the playoffs and Dubas might not be able to ring them all back is he wants to keep Matthews.
He'll clearly ask for a big contract that'll take an imoprtant part of the cap space.
One thing's certain : Dubas will have a lot of thinking to do in the coming weeks.
