The team announced earlier this afternoon that they had signed defenseman Dakota Mermis to a one-year deal worth league minimum. Mermis played in 47 games with the Wild last season in a bottom-pair role. It was his first season as a regular at the NHL level at the age of 30. Since then, they have also announced the addition of Phillipe Myers.
Myers and Phillipe were not the only additions of the day as Treliving also signed 25-year-old forward Cedric Pare to a one-year deal. The team announced all three signings at the same time as none of these players got their own unique announcement.
Myers has just over 150 games of NHL experience, most of which came with the Philadelphia Flyers. He most recently got into 5 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning last season. Pare in the only player of the three with no NHL experience whatsoever. he scored 35 points in 61 games with the Colorado Eagles of the AHL last season.
None of these players figure to have big futures with the Leafs, but they do add some depth, which is always needed. Worst case scenario, the three players help out the Toronto Marlies with essentially no risk to the Leafs.
