There's some potential questions regarding whether Nick Robertson or Max Domi are going to be traded to make room for a new player, but sources have shut those down.

With the trade deadline approaching and time winding down for the Maple Leafs to make a move, there are some rumblings that perhaps Max Domi or Nick Robertson could be traded as a way to open up some roster and cap space for a new acquisition.

But much like Fraser Minten and Easton Cowan, Brad Treliving is set on keeping as many pieces as possible and not look to add by subtraction.

According to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, it seems that unless something blows them away; Max and Nick are here to stay.

It means Toronto only has a few assets to give away, so where can the team improve?

Toronto's Journey Toward Stanley Cup Needs Domi And Robertson

Robertson and Domi are sticking around, and while it would have been a big ask to get teams to take either man given their inconsistencies and in Domi's case, his contract, the team is better off with than without them.

Robertson, for all his inconsistencies has started to pick things up and really begun to buy into Craig Berube's system. He's more aggressive, finishing checks, and being a relentless forechecker.

His goal output hasn't been as explosive as we expected, although he's started to lean into a more third-line checking role, and less solely reliant on his offensive skillset alone.

Domi on the other hand, is having some of the worst numbers of his career and at $5M he's not worth the price given the lack of production and worsening defense.

He has managed to score recently however that comes two months after he scored his last goal; the track record shows that Domi can't be relied upon so why would any team take him on?

But he's a core part of the team regardless of fan opinion and criticism, but has to do the work first to show he can be at least serviceable offensively and improve defensively.

Domi has to get better here first before Toronto can even think of shipping him out, and if the veteran forward can pick things up between now and the summer, they may have an easier time moving him out if they choose to.

Either way you slice it, Toronto isn't really going to budge on moving any depth pieces in an already thin group.

But if something changes between now and Friday, they might have to make a move.
