The Toronto Maple Leafs have come close to becoming real contenders in the Stanley Cup playoffs, but almost every year they bow out in the first round. Team leadership, tired of the same old, fired Sheldon Keefe from his position as head coach, later replacing him with former St. Louis Blues head coach Craig Berube.
Now, with Brad Treliving acquiring more depth players like defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Chris Tanev for the team, Berube has had the task of creating the lines for the upcoming season. According to Adam Laskaris, this is how he is expected to split up the players:
With more team depth and the addition of 2023 first-round draft pick Easton Cowan, the Maple Leafs could come out of the next season a more cohesive team. They will have a chance to put themselves to the test starting October 9th against the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre. Hopefully, Toronto can pull themselves together from the start of the season. If not, it could be a long road to making next year's playoffs.
