Referees Rob Leafs Of Multiple Scoring Chances With Major Mistakes
As we all know, being a referee in the NHL is no easy job. However, there are often inexcusable moments in games and tonight we saw more than one as the Leafs played against the Bruins.
Referees Blow The Whistle Early Twice, Hurting Maple Leafs
Twice in the game, the Leafs were on a delayed penalty. As such, they were able to pull the goalie to get an extra attacker for what is effectively bonus powerplay time with no risk of a shorthanded goal. However, each time the referees blew the play dead when the Bruins did not even touch the puck.
That's the SECOND time they've blown the whistle prematurely for no reason at all.
It's almost like they don't want Toronto to have a 6-on-5 while keeping the possession in the O zone.
Embarrassing officials yet again.

Fans Call Out Referees For Repeated Bad Calls Against the Leafs
Needless to say, Leafs fans were not too thrilled about this. Many took to social media to call out the officials for the unacceptable performance.
Sadly, there is no accountability for referees in the NHL. They will not have to explain to the fans why they blew the whistle, nor will they admit that it was the wrong thing to do. In this case, it may have an impact on the game as well considering that the Bruins are up 2-0. The Leafs very well could have scored on those delayed penalties, but the officials denied the team of those opportunities with bad calls.
