The Toronto Maple Leafs are always going to be the Toronto Maple Leafs when it comes to blowing leads..

Last night the Toronto Maple Leafs hosted the Carolina Hurricanes for a Saturday Night tilt. In the match, the Leafs were leading 4-2 until the final two minutes of the game where they gave up a penalty. Sebastian Aho quickly scored two goals to even the game and eventually be victorious in the shootout thanks to a Andrei Svechnikov shootout winner. Sheldon Keefe provided some comments regarding his team's performance.

Sheldon Keefe credits the Maple Leafs play

Despite the Leafs blowing a comfortable lead, Sheldon Keefe defended his boys by saying they played a good game.

"I thought we got good efforts from the guys tonight. The result sucks, but I thought we stood in there. At times, we carried play. We scored four goals. We very easily could've had three or four more against a team that gives up almost nothing.

There are a lot of encouraging things if we look at it from a process point of view that we really like, but obviously, there are key moments in the game we have to do a better job of." - Keefe on his team's effort in a 5-4 shootout loss

It sounds like not a big deal but Leafs fans have every right to be upset, leads like that cannot be blown especially as the team approaches the playoffs. The team's head coach shouldn't be crediting their team when they blow a lead in that fashion.
