Sheldon Keefe reveals his starting goaltender for game 6
The Toronto Maple Leafs saved elimination in game five behind a great night from Joseph Woll, and now Sheldon Keefe has thrown his support behind Woll.
Early in this series, the blue line and goaltending in Toronto struggles as the Leafs fell to a 3-1 deficit against Boston, but on Tuesday night, it appears as though they figured something out.
In the 2-1 OT win, Joseph Woll stopped 27 of the 28 shots he saw on the night as Toronto saved their season, and it appears that performance is leading to another opportunity for Woll.
Sheldon Keefe says it's a good sign of how Joseph Woll handled the moment of Game 5 in Boston.
"We're going to need him to continue with that. Our team is going to have to continue to do a job in front of him. Those things have gotta be connected."
According to Nick Barden, Keefe has shown all indicators lead to Woll starting again in a must-win game at home on Thursday, as Keefe stated that the team need Woll to continue with what he showed in Boston.
Keefe isn't the only one in support of Woll however, as young teammate and OT hero Matthew Knies had his say on No. 60's impressive work;
Knies on the play of friend and teammate Joseph Woll: "I feel pretty safe when he's in net there."
It would have been very easy for the big moment to scare a young goaltender, but he stood up and made several big saves, and if the team are to make a historic comeback and keep their hopes alive, it appears as though Woll is the No. 1 going forward.
Stay tuned for more updates.
