Game sevens are the pinnacle of excitement for hockey fans. When they are over, one fanbase is guaranteed to be disappointed. Last night, Maple Leafs fans experienced what no fanbase should have to endure: seeing your favorite team lose.
In Toronto, thousands of Leafs fans gathered at Maple Leafs Square to watch their team face the Boston Bruins only to suffer that disappointment.
Bruins' forward David Pastrnak scored a goal in overtime to send the Maple Leafs packing for the summer:
As tradition obliges, players met at center ice to shake the hands of their opponents after the game.
When the Leafs and the Bruins did that at TD Garden on Saturday night, the Bruins showed a live video of the Leafs' fans watching the game in Toronto.
Watch it here:
Boston showed no mercy for Toronto, as we often see in the playoffs, but they did more than enough.
Brad Marchand also disrespected the Leafs, mocking their playoff slogan in a post-game interview:
The Bruins will face the Florida Panthers in the second round, meaning Leafs fans probably won't have to wait too long before they can get back at them.
