The Maple Leafs seem to have struck some gold when they signed Bobby McMann as the young power forward is starting to blossom into a key contributor for the team.
He's been on a tear recently, with six points in his last four games and scoring in three games straight bringing him to nine goals and 13 points on the season. Showing outrageous speed and some pretty slick handles, McMann has shown promise as one of Toronto's future stars.
His play as of late is also a blessing for his GM as he decides what pieces to add to his roster before the March 7 trade deadline.
McMann was ready to get things going at the end of last season but an injury derailed him and took the playoffs away from him; a crucial part in why Toronto lost another first round, but came out this year with a huge chip on his shoulders.
Toronto nearly lost out on the winger last season as they placed him on waivers in October, but he cleared them and decided to become a star instead. Showing great effort, veteran poise, and a very sneaky amount of speed; he's been able to torch offenses and gets several one on one chances due to it.
If he can continue this pace and finish the season with 20 goals, he would bring a huge relief to GM Brad Treliving's quest to find a trade partner for a left wing.
It's been an issue of concern for the team however if he can keep up this pace and prove that he can be the piece needed, there's less pressure to commit to a deal and at $1.35M per season, it's a no-brainer.
Given the Leafs' need for a third-ling winger and scoring option, and McMann's stellar play, it's a match made in proverbial heaven as the team has another blossoming power forward shooting up the ranks as one of the team's best.
