Two leading candidates to land the Toronto Maple Leafs' head coach job officially emerged.

With the Leafs' management firing Sheldon Keefe earlier this week, Toronto has now started to look for his replacement.

Elliotte Friedman mentionned two leading candidates to get hired by Brad Treliving in the latest episode of his podcast 32 Thoughts.

According to him, Craig Berube and Todd McLellan are the coaches who are in the front-running to work with the Leafs.

"elliotte friedman on the 32 thoughts podcast says the two leading contenders for the leafs head coaching job are craig berube and todd mclellan"

Berube has been a coach in the NHL for almost 20 years. In his career, he worked for the Philadelphia Flyers and the St. Louis Blues, where he won a Stanley Cup in 2019. Berube was let go by the Blues early in the season.

As for McLellan, he has coached the Detroit Red Wings, the San Jose Sharks, the Edmonton Oilers and the Los Angeles Kings. In nearly 20 years as a coach in the NHL, he never won the Stanley Cup. However, he won the Calder Cup in the AHL in 2003, and has a special connection with Brendan Shanahan: the Leafs' President played a year in Detroit, when McLellan was the assistant coach.

"friedman says shanahan played a year in detroit when mclellan was the assistant coach so there's the connection there"

Do you think the Toronto Maple Leafs will hire either Todd McLellan or Craig Berube to replace Sheldon Keefe as their head coach?
