The Toronto Maple Leafs will be in the market this summer for some free agents to fill in the gaps missing on the team. With key positions to strengthen, GM Brad Treliving has several potential targets in sight.
These players could provide the depth and skill needed to push the Maple Leafs to the next level in the upcoming.
The following players could be top targets for the Maple Leafs' offseason acquisitions:
Brendan Montour
Defenseman Brendan Montour is expected to be a top target in the free agency market for the Toronto Maple Leafs as they will be looking to improve the right hand side to their defensive corps. Montour, coming off an injury ridden season, had 33 points in 66 games. A vast difference compared to last season where he broke out putting up 74 points in 80 games. The 30 year old defenseman will be in the market for a big payday on July 1st. He is the number one priority for Brad Treliving and the Maple Leafs.
The Leafs should attempt to pull off another "Ryan Reaves" type move this summer. Instead, they should go for the more gritty type, like Ryan Lomberg who may be short, but provides a unique skill set with his impressive skating. Lomberg would fit in the role on the fourth line perfectly in Toronto.
Adam Henrique, the most ideal 3C any team is dying to have. Henrique was traded from the Anaheim Ducks to the Edmonton Oilers at the NHL trade deadline for a first round pick. The veteran forward would provide well needed experience to this Leafs core, mixed in with goal scoring pedigree.
