With Toronto getting their injured players back soon, there are a lot of questions surrounding who stays and who gets demoted.
For players like Alex Steeves and Philippe Myers they will more than likely be sent down to help out the Marlies, however one rookie is making his case for a permanent spot and stop Brad Treliving's trade aspirations.
Fraser Minten's emergence this season has been a great story for the Maple Leafs. Injured during the Prospect Showcase, Minten has come back with a vengeance, with four points already this season.
He's not only gotten credit for his scoring output either, as Craig Berube had some extremely high praise for his prospect:
He also compared Minten's drive and work ethic to that of John Tavares which is a massive compliment to the rookie.
To be compared to someone as beloved not only in Toronto but the NHL as a whole is a huge bit of praise for Minten.
While he didn't score Wednesday night against Nashville, he poured in five shots and seven hits showing that he's a danger at both ends of the ice.
His play as of late and the admiration of his head coach can only be a good sign for Minten's future.
During the Nashville game, Minten impressed his head coach enough to earn himself a spot on the second line alongside John Tavares and William Nylander; a positive sign for his future on the team.
It also gives pause for Brad Treliving to make a trade for a third-line center, as Minten has the ability and has proven he deserves a chance to take a crack at running the 3C.
It's known Treliving wants to add defense along with offensive potential and Minten offers him both as a much, much cheaper option.
Fraser Minten's time with the Toronto Maple Leafs has impressed a lot of people in a short time span, and if continues this pace then the team will have no choice but to take a look at the forwards who haven't produced and make room for Minten permanently.
