The goaltender exodus from the Toronto Maple Leafs organization continues after Keith Petruzzelli of the Marilies signed an AHL contract with the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have had a long streak of little success making a real run toward the Stanley Cup. With tough history comes tough problems, and among their biggest is their goaltender exodus. After their first-round playoffs exit, Ilya Samsonov signed a one-year deal with the Golden Knights This comes only two years after the team traded Petr Mrazek to Chicago for an improvement in draft pick.

"Ilya Samsonov has signed with the Vegas Golden Knights to a one-year, $1.8M deal."

However, it appears that the Maple Leafs have lost yet another goaltender. Following a weaker performance in his recent season with the Toronto Marlies, Keith Petruzzelli has signed a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

"The Lehigh Valley Phantoms are signing goaltender Keith Petruzzelli to an AHL contract for 2024-25.

The 6-foot-6 former 2017-3rd round pick of Detroit went 6-8-2 with a 3.55 GAA & .867 SV% in 17GP with Toronto Marlies last year. #AHLFreeAgency24 @InsideAHLHockey"

With only a .867 SV% in his last season with the Marlies, Toronto may not miss Keith Petruzzelli too much when he starts playing in Lehigh Valley. However, if they continue to struggle to hold onto their goaltenders, the Maple Leafs may have bigger problems for years to come.
